Title: Hermes-TowardsanUltimateHigh-PerformanceAlgorithmforCosmicStatisticsofLargeDataSets Speaker：LonglongFeng   Abstract:  Drivenbytheneedforfastandefficientalgorithmsincosmicstatisticstohandlethemassivedatavolumesfromongoingandforthcominggalaxysurveys,wepresentthefirstpublicreleaseofHermes(HypER-speedMultirEsolutioncosmicStatistics)—anopen-source,parallelized,andGPU-acceleratedPythonpackage.Atitscore,HermesimplementstheMRA-CS(MultiResolutionAnalysisforCosmicStatistics)framework.ThistalkwillprovideaconciseoverviewofthemathematicalfoundationsandcorealgorithmsbehindHermes,demonstrateitsperformancethroughnumericaltests,andhighlightitsbroadpotentialforextractingcosmologicalinformationfromnext-generationgalaxysurveys.   Bio： FengLonglong,ProfessorofPhysicsatSunYat-senUniversity,Prof.Fengreceivedhisbachelor’sdegreeinphysicsfromtheUniversityofScienceandTechnologyofChina(USTC)in1982,followedbyamaster’sdegreefromUSTC’sCenterforAstrophysicsin1985.HeearnedhisPh.D.inastronomyfromtheDepartmentofAstronomyatNanjingUniversityin1990.Aftercompletinghisdoctorate,hebeganhisacademiccareeratUSTC,whereheworkeduntil2003.HethenjoinedthePurpleMountainObservatoryastheprincipalresearcheroftheGalacticAstronomyandCosmologyGroup.Since2014,hehasbeenaprofessorintheSchoolofPhysicsandAstronomyatSunYat-senUniversity.
